How do I join?

Each WI can be very different so you may need to visit a few before you discover the one that’s right for you. There is no obligation to join when you visit, but you may be asked to pay a small visitors fee (£5).

Check out when our next meeting is scheduled so you can come along.

How much is membership?

The National Federation of Women’s Institute Board of Trustees (The Feds) has set the membership subscription for 2018 at £41.00

  • £18 of the subscription is kept by your WI,
  • £8.40 will go to your federation (in our case Essex Federation) and
  • £11.10 will go to the NFWI

Subscriptions are due in January 2018. The WI subscription year runs from January
to December

New members joining the WI for the first time, i.e. who have not previously been a
member of any WI in the past 10 years, will pay a pro-rata subscription depending on
the quarter in which they join. The rate per quarter is shown below:

Date of joining: Amount payable
1 Jan – 31 Mar £41.00
1 Apr – 30 Jun £29.25
1 Jul – 30 Sep £19.50
1 Oct – 31 Dec £9.75

WI members can belong to more than one WI, by paying the full membership fee to
the first WI, and a further £18 to any additional WIs at any time of the year. There is
no pro-rata rate for dual membership

What does my membership entitle me to?

Membership gets you access to all meetings (11 per year)  and any social events (additional costs may apply) as well as the national magazine -WI  Life delivered direct to your door (eight times a year) , a voucher booklet and mailings to keep you up-to-date with all the news and events from your federation and the NFWI, and the ability to vote on resolutions and for the Dalston Darlings committee.
